Hi guys, quick update on v4. But first, a huge thanks to Renegade334 for donating to keep us on the hosted list until halfway through June! On that note, we are halfway through the promotional customizations, they're up on April 15. Okay, now let me tell you what's cookin' in the kitchen.
This release is centered on addressing players that avoid and camp, problems that have existed since the beginning of CnB. I'm introducing a new component that issues health penalties for either moving too slow or not colliding with others for awhile. You'll end up losing most of your vehicle health if you run away from the fray, or if you sit idly in the corner of a map. See previous announcement for more details.
Secondly, I've rewritten how winning works alltogether to shift focus from surviving to dealing damage. In v4, when you knock someone out, you get credit for the kill. Also, when you crash into someone, you will receive an arbitrary concept of damage points, obviously proportional to how hard you hit the other player. Now, at the end of rounds, it will display who dealt the most damage, who knocked the most players out, and finally, the old survivor/last survivor.
Since this is quite a bit different, I am considering resetting score. Your old survivor-based score will remain on your profile as a legacy statistic, but I'm thinking the SAMP scoreboard should show damage points instead, subject to testing. Showing total kills may make more sense.
The other major improvement with v4 is a new vote menu that displays much more useful map information, as well as a refresh of the title screen. Also, the vote menu will operate entirely on highest amount of votes. Currently, sometimes it doesn't, depending on if a map is overplayed. Maps nominated too much will start to be skipped in the first place when the vote menu is produced.
The first piece of v4 is live in production, which includes everything but revamped winning. You can expect a few sessions of testing here in the next week or so as I finish that up.
Excited to see these new changes!
I think the new damage based rewards and penalties based on running/camping will improve gameplay immensely.
Agreed, I think it makes a lot of sense!
New vote menu, for those who don't want to jump in-game:
Second release is live, and includes the split into 3 win types. New leaderboard and scoring next..
